    summer camp ~ august 4-29

Immerse yourself in yoga as you
deepen your practice and brighten your spirit.
Each week is devoted to a different “theme” as we delve into the deeper,
finer layers of yoga to enrich our body, mind and spirit.

WEEK 1 •  August 4 - 8
6:15-7:30am - The Week of the Animal ~ April
Let your wild side out to play! Yoga asana is full of poses inspired by animals, from cranes and eagles to cats and dogs to lions, scorpions, tortoises and snakes.  Practicing such poses will take the body through a full course of movement, awaken the imagination, and bring us in touch with our animal sensitivities!
7:45-9:00am - Chakras: Building a Balanced Being ~ Ellen

Come join us for a series of 5 morning practices to awaken a deeper sense of self understanding and personal balance. Using asana, pranayama, chanting and meditation we will explore the chakra system as a tool to deepen our personal practice awakening a sense of self discovery and peace.

Week 2 • August 11 - 15
6:15-7:30am - Backbends with a Twist
Maraha-backbends-M/W/F, Irene-twists-T/Th

Practicing backbends help to unlock the spirit within. They challenge us to overcome fear and teach us to move with ease and grace while living with an open heart. We will start with baby backbends and work our way up to the bigger guys. Twists wring out the body & thereby assist in releasing enormous amounts of tension. When releasing from a twist and the body relaxes again, that area is flooded with nutrients and thus being deeply cleansing and deeply nourishing.
A very healthy tandem practice!
7:45-9:00am - Triplets + Inversions ~ April
Three is the first number to which the  meaning "all" was given. It is The Triad, being the number of the whole as it contains the beginning, middle and an end. There can be three parts to  movement:
Intention - where do I want to go? Action - going there .. Reflection - did it take you where you wanted to be?
Feel inspired and connected to the 'Power of Three' and experiment with  practicing asana in groups of three and notice what happens!

Week 3 • August 18 - 22
6:15-7:30am - The 5 Kanchukas ~ Jennifer   During this week we will use asana to awaken the body and mind, and meditation to experience the 5 Kanchukas or 'coverings' as they help reveal to us how we confuse relative truth with Absolute Truth. The good news is that everything we experience is a doorway that can lead us back home to our innate equanimity and joyful contentment.
7:45-9:00am - Internal Alchemy-Raja Yoga ~ Kitty   The purpose of this practice is to clear the body cells and physical organs of negative emotions. Join Kitty this week in a rare opportunity to practice Raja Yoga in a variety of postures using visualization, pranayama and bandhas. This clearing allows the radiance of the soul to shine through the skin, increasing ones personal radiance.

Week 4 • August 25 - 29
6:15-7:30am - Inversions ~ Irene Ancient yogis believed that the nectar of immortality, amrita, held in the crown chakra, counted out our days as it slowly dripped through the center of the body and was consumed by the fire of the torso.  Turning upside-down preserves our stock of life-giving nectar. Indeed, inversions can return us to childhood play--but it also helps to have some clear
guidance and instruction.  We'll work with precision and build strength over the week to approach inversions at any level.
Come and defy gravity and turn your world upside-down.
7:45-9:00am - Core, core and mo’ core ~ Cicely-M/T/W, Irene-Th/F
A strong core will keep you safe in yoga poses and those tricky poses you find yourself in outside of class.  Accessing the core also allows extra tension to release in the extremities--your shoulders, hips and neck can float free.  And when you're standing strong and centered, you will undoubtedly feel more grounded, braver, and more at home in your body and the world.  This week we'll approach core strength from every angle and have fun!

Cost: $70 per week or $60 per week for 3 weeks or more.

You may also use any existing pass card or drop-in, but full week attendance is HIGHLY recommended.
