Jennifer Walker-Cabanero
“One day you finally knew what you had to do and began...”
~ Mary Oliver

Jennifer’s students describe her as
wise, approachable, intuitive and supportive. She infuses
her classes with poetry and chanting, and with a profound
insight into the workings of the body and the nature of the
human spirit. In her own life, she has used yoga to heal
from a severe back injury, and to nurture herself as she
supports her husband, who lives (and thrives) with cancer.
She is known for her infectious laugh and her abundant
garden (those are her beautiful flowers you see each week at
the studio). In addition to brightening the studio with her
plants and personality, she is the studio manager and
housekeeper extraordinaire, working overtime to make sure
the space is always clean and inviting, and the blankets and
mats are folded in just the right way (folds to the front,
fringes to the back!). If you’re lucky, she’ll bring
chocolate to class for a taste meditation, or just guide you
into a state of yoga nidra inner calm that is sweeter than
any chocolate.
Jennifer has been teaching yoga since 1998. She is inspired
by Donna Farhi and also has trained extensively with Richard
Miller in the art and craft of Yoga Nidra (iRest). Come to
her Tuesday morning or Friday night classes to find out more
about this profound practice of restoration and
self-inquiry. In addition, she practices reflexology,
treating clients in our treatment space behind the studio.
Jennifer creates a special journey for each session, using
intention, movement, sound, and the breath to integrate a
sense of spirit into her classes. She encourages connecting
the breath with sensation, moment to moment, so that the
poses arise from an inner wisdom rather than an outer form
imposed upon the body. It is her goal to teach a balanced
class so that each student leaves feeling energized,
centered, and ready to transition into their daily lives.
"Jennifer's core-focused, gentle, and therapeutic classes
are calming and supporting. Jennifer herself is like a
quiet, playful goddess of joy. She blends deep anatomical
knowledge and exactness with relaxation and a respect for
the profoundly individual and personal nature of yoga
practice. While they work to help you strengthen yourself,
her classes also encourage you to let go of excessive
striving and let the joy and power of yoga flow through you.
I always leave her classes filled with gratitude, and often
with laughter." ~ Jan
